Hola Familia!
Wow cannot believe another week has passed by! Here is the rundown of the week!

President Comes!- This week our President and his wife came to Ayacucho!!! We had a Zone conference, interviews, and then Stake Conference! It was a fun filled and crazy weekend! One of the things that truly impacted me was when he talked about how in the scriptures the prophets “Shout Praises.” He then asked us if we, as servants of the Lord, “Shout Praises” when we teach and talk. It really made me reflect on how amazing this gospel truly is! How could we not “Shout Praises” as we testify that families can be together forever, that we can be cleansed from sin, that we are never alone! Every part of the gospel is something we should rejoice in! It also made me realize how happy I am that I have this opportunity to share this wonderful gospel and “Shout Praises” everyday!

The Miracle of the Book of Mormon!- Okay so this week my companion and I saw a miracle! We have been teaching Yolanda for the past 2 weeks! She is wonderful but she never really seemed to fully comprehend the importance of the gospel and it was very difficult for her to understand the scriptures. But this week everything changed… as we begun our lesson with her she told us that she had read the Book of Mormon, she explained the entire chapter to us perfectly! She told us that her comprehension was improving and that she felt such peace as she read the Book of Mormon. She even prayed to know if the Book of Mormon was true and received answers that it was in fact the word of God. As she explained to us many mini-miracles that she had recognized in her work and home, she testified to us that God was mindful of her and that this was his path. Sunday morning when we went to pass by her house to go to conference she was all ready and we even got to church early! (that never happens in Peru!) It was so cute to see her excitement in listening to the talks and singing the hymns…. she truly had transformed in her attitude about everything! This helped me to remember the power that the Book of Mormon has. It truly has the power to change people, to lift spirits, and help us recognize the mini-miracles that happen each day!

I love this work and I feel so blessed to be here as a missionary at this time in my life! I love this work so much and testify that the Lord knows us all personally and knows what we need, when we need it!

Love you all!!

Hola Familia!!!!

Wow! This week flew by! Here is a little rundown of my week….

My New Companion!!- My new companion is Hermana Ybañez!! She is from Mendoza, Argentina and is seriously amazing! She is so prepared and so in tune with the spirit! I feel so blessed to have the opportunity to be her trainer because I honestly feel as if she is training me!!! It’s also so fun because she loves English and so we’ve been really working on our language skills together!

Temple!- Okay I have been so spoiled! Because I was in Lima and we had to wait for our bus again, we got to go to the temple!!! As I was sitting in the temple it hit me that so much time has passed since I first entered this beautiful temple in Lima. Since that first time I have had so many amazing experiences within those walls and each time I come to understand more and more how close our Heavenly Father really is to each of us!

The Restoration- Wow! This week we had an amazing lesson with Isabel, Efrain,Piero, and Fattima, a family that we contacted about a week ago. As we began to teach the message of the restoration… the father, Efrain began to share with us his doubts, questions, and concerns. Noting the confusion in his face, we began to teach the restoration…. applying every part to his needs and his concerns. As we reached the story of the First Vision…. I recited it from memory and a spirit so strong filled the room. The peace we felt seemed to melt away the doubt and confusion. As we explained that Joseph Smith received an answer to his humble prayer…. Efrain asked us…. How can I know that this is true? How can I have this knowledge that you both have? As we invited him and his family to “ask of God” and read the Book of Mormon, their desire to recieve their own answers from God was so apparent. Efrain even mentioned…”wow, I guess I need to read this book then…” His simple realization of the need to read and ask for himself was a result of the Holy Ghost. It doesn’t cease to amaze me how the Spirit can enter the hearts of the children of men and help them feel not only the love of God, but also how He can help us recognize what we need to do to receive answers from God.

I feel so blessed to be here in this area with this companion at this time! Even though this week proved difficult with limited time, and few lessons…. I truly recognized that the Lord utilizes us all in different ways. Sometimes we are planting seeds, sometimes we see the fruits of our labors immediately, and other times we just doing all we can to serve him and his children.

I love this work and I love each day I have as a servant of the Lord!
Love you all!

Hola Familia!!!

Wow!!! this week was crazy! So many amazing things happened this week- here’s a rundown!

Cambios!- This week was cambios!! We received the call saturday morning that Hermana Turley would be changing to lima and I would be staying in Ayacucho to train!!!! I Can’t believe that I will be training again- and staying in Ayacucho!! Even crazier is that when we arrived to the office today President called us and told us he needed to talk to us right away. As we waited in his office- Hermana Araujo my “daughter” who I trained in Cañete about 6 months ago- who had gone home for bad health- entered the room!!! She started bawling and then got reassigned to be hermana Turley’s companion!!! It was so great to see her again and I am so happy that she back in the mission after 6 months of treatments!!!!!

Mini-Miracles- Today was a week of mini-miracles. One such miracle was on Friday! After all of our appointments had fallen through, my companion decided we should walk to the end of the world to visit a less active who had never-ever been home in the 6 months that hermana Turley has been in Mariscal. After finally arriving and knocking, we were let in and got to meet Yolanda! She was finishing up cleaning the house and looks stressed and worn-down. As we began to teach, the spirit became so strong. We talked about the Love Heavenly Father has for each of his Children, and how we are never alone. As we taught, Yolanda began to cry… she told us that it was her birthday- And all day she had been praying to feel the Lords love, and not feel so alone on her special day…. I almost started to cry as I was reminded that we truly are servants in the Lord’s Hands. That when we visit others, we are doing the Lord’s work.

Namiko!- It was also so amazing this week because I got to see Namiko Reyes, who was my rescue from Bolognesi! She has just opened her mission call to go to paraguay and she will be leaving on Oct.8! It was such a blessing that I got to go to church in Bolognesi this sunday so I could say goodbye and give her one last hug before she begins on her own amazing mission experience! I just know she will touch the lives of many, and I cannot wait to hear about the miracles she will see everyday as a servant of the Lord!

Temple!- This week was also Concilio so I got to go to the Temple!!! One of my favorite moments was when I was able to sit in the sealing room for a little bit. Looking into the infinity mirrors, I was touched by the reality that Families are Forever! I was overwhelmed with joy that now my sister has begun her own eternal family! And even though I wasn’t physically there at her wedding, being able to enter into the sealing room a few days later, halfway around the world was an amazing blessing for me!

I know this work is important and I feel so blessed that I have the opportunity to serve here at this time!!!

Love you all!

Hola Familia!!!
This week was great! Here’s a rundown of the Happenings in Ayacucho!!!

Walking!- I am still baffled at how huge my new area is! The other day we climbed 232 stairs!!! I think maybe the Lord is telling me I need to get back in shape! But it’s been so fun to be with Hermana Turley! She is amazing and because she walks so fast…. it really pushes me to “pick up the pace” haha

Elder Bednar Comes!!- Wow! Our mission had the amazing blessing of traveling to Lima to listen to Elder Bednar speak!!! It was amazing! First of all Elder Bednar is suprisingly funny…he was making some great jokes and was smiling and laughing as he was talking to us! It was such a memorable meeting because we didn’t listen to talks, but instead had a conversation with Elder Bednar, his wife, and some of the area presidency! The spirit was so strong and the atmosphere almost overwhelming as 3 Lima missions, and the MTC… over 700 missionaries gathered together to listen to an apostle! Many missionaries participated, sharing their feelings and later asking questions. It was amazing how strongt the spirit was as we were not talked at, but instead involved in the teaching process! It truly was a spiritual experience filled with impressions of the spirit, and as Elder Bednar said, listening to “the things that were not said, but you heard.”

Miracles!!! – It was sunday and as we were heading to church, my companion and Ibeginning to worry that none of our investigators would come to church! We had called, passed by houses and everything, but they had been sick or unable to…. as we ran to church I said a little prayer… that we could have at least one investigator in church. The meeting started and still no one arrived… it wasn’t until after sacrament meeting that we realized our prayers had been answered….. A member in our ward had brought her friend, Elva and her 12 year old daughter to church! We ended up talking to them and setting up an appointment to visit and teach them this week! It was amazing to me to see how when we really do our part-we do all that we possibly can- the Lord will answer our prayers… he will literally open the windows of heaven and pour us out blessings! My companion and I experienced that first hand this past week, we saw that sometimes miracles aren’t only huge incredible moments, but they are also the small answers that we recieve when we ask and act with faith!

Love you all so much!

Hola Familia!!!
Wow! This week was crazy!!! Lots of Changes, Miracles, and Walking.

Cambios… before Cambios….- This week I got a call telling me that I would be having an Emergency cambio to Barrio Mariscal Caceres!!! The Mariscal Caceres ward is the area right next to mine, so luckily I still get to stay in Ayacucho!!! It was crazy packing up my things and moving to my new area… while still being so close to my old area!!!! My new companion is Hermana Turley… who was our companion for three weeks while she waiting for her new companion to arrive… all and all it’s just a crazy transfer!!! My new area is SO HUGE. It’s way bigger than any other area I have been in and so I’m getting used to walking a ton! But I love being with Hermana Turley and we can feel that our time together is going to bring miracles in Mariscal!!!

Guillermina!!– This week Guillermina was baptized!! Even though I wasn’t officially in the Garcilazo Ward, I was able to attend and be with her for that special day!! One of my favorite parts of the program was hearing her testimony after her baptism- After years of waiting for her father’s permission, he finally agreed to let her be baptized! It was amazing to see and hear her faith and complete confidence in the Lord and His plan for her, even when her father didn’t feel the same way. After lots of lessons, family challenges, and overcoming fear… she was finally able to make this important step in her life! The amazing thing is, baptism is only the beginning, I cannot wait until Guillermina can someday go to the temple, maybe even serve a mission, and one day have her own eternal family!
It truly was a beautiful event to see someone I love so much take the first step in finding lasting and eternal happiness.

Miracles!!- So like I said in Mariscal we walk a lot….. this week had been a real struggle to even have lessons. We had been doing all we could to find new investigators and have lessons, but things weren’t coming easy! It was Sunday night and we had only had one lesson and had been walking all day…. At the end of the night the name of a referral, Betsy, came to my mind. Without any set appointment we went right away! When we arrived at the house she told us that she was busy and we should come back a different day…. as we walked away from the house we suddenly heard shouting… she was yelling to us to come back! Her husband had wanted to listen to us. My companion and I were shocked. That never happens. She let us in and we began to teach Betsy with her husband Wilmer! As we began talking about eternal families and they blessings that they desire for their family, the spirit became so strong. They both have strong desires to build a relationship with God and to help their family grow stronger in the gospel of Jesus Christ! This lesson was such a miracle to me! After a week filled with walking, and few lessons… the Lord gave us the blessing of finding an amazing family!! I know that the Lord is always preparing people to receive the gospel in their lives! I feel so blessed to be an instrument in his hands to help all come unto Him!!!

Love you all!!!

WOW!! cannot believe the wedding is around the corner!!! seriously so crazy!! I sent a letter with an hermana that had a bunch of tips for candice before she went to the temple… but I don’t know if she sent it yet!!! Don’t forget to send a bunch of photos!!!! I want to see everything!!! Hola Familia!!!!

Wow! This week has been crazy! Here is a rundown of the week!

Miracles! – This week we were struggling a bit to find new investigators. Starting out the afternoon with 3 canceled appointments, I was starting to feel a bit discouraged…. As we left the 3 house that rejected us… I said a short little prayer. Expressing my worries to the Lord…. ” Please help me to know what to do to find new investigators” about 2 minutes later I recieved a phone call…. it was Jesus, a reference we had received from a member but never had been able to teach them…. as I began to talk with Jesus he told me that he and his mom were home and wanted us to come visit them right away. Wow. After trying to find their house for 20 min… we finally found it and were able to teach Jesus and his mom Julia! Even more amazingly Julia came to church this Sunday and expressed to us the peace and happiness she felt in the Church Meetings! I know that the Lord listens to our prayers…. I know that he knows what we need before we do, and that He is always preparing people for us to teach!!!

Random Findings- This Sunday we received a reference of a 13 year old girl who wasn’t a member but had received a blessing as a Child. Not knowing anything about her, we just took her information and went out to find her! After all our appointments had fallen through, the thought came to my mind. Go visit Dafne. After finding her house we rang their loudspeaker….. the voice that answered was a man’s voice and his response was not too welcoming…. he asked us who had given him this address and did not sound too happy to be talking to us…. He sternly told us that he would come down to talk to us in person to see what our motives really were…… To be honest my companions and I were pretty scared to talk to him…. but we decided to stay and talk. As we began to talk to Dafne’s father Hugo he began to soften his heart. A little grudgingly he decided to let us in to share something small. His wife, Elizabeth also joined us and we were able to share a short message about Jesus Christ and how their family can one day be eternal! We soon found out that both Hugo and Elizabeth were members who had gone inactive before their daughter Dafne was to the age of baptism! This lesson was amazing! The spririt was so strong and I could truly see each one of them dressed in white entering the temple one day! It was such a testimony to me that the Lord is directing his work! Everytime we recieve a name of someone to visit, it is the Lord directing us to the people who need the divine help and hope of Jesus Christ!

I love this work and know that I truly was called to be here in Peru at this time!!! I feel so blessed to be with my two amazing companions and I learn so much from them each day!!! I know that this gospel is true!!!

Hola Familia!!!

This week was wonderful!! I am still loving Ayacucho and loving my companions they are amazing!!! Here is a rundown of the week…..

Concilio!- This week was the week of Concilio!!! …. so also the week of traveling! The 10 hour drive wasn’t actually that bad! This leadership council was awesome! It really focused on how we can teach, and learn in the Lord’s way! It was wonderful to listen to President and at the same time have discussions with missionaries from all over our mission!!! It’s amazing how when you let him, the Holy Ghost can direct a meeting!

Miracles!- This week we were visiting a Rescue named Yanina! As we began our lesson on the Plan of Salvation, she told us that the father of her daughter would be arriving soon so we would have to give a short lesson!! We had seen her ex-husband many times before and he had never wanted to listen, and never really even wanted to talk with us! About 3 min after he called there was a knock at the door, and Jose Luis, her ex-husband arrived! To our surprise he decided to enter and to listen! We had such a wonderful lesson about the plan that God has for us and at the finish Jose promised to read The Book of Mormon and come to church this next Sunday! The even bigger miracle was when he offered the closing prayer and asked the Lord for help to recieve answers from God and change his life!! WOW! My companions and I were so taken aback by his desires to truly follow Jesus Christ! Wow! It was truly a tender mercy and we cannot wait for the following lesson!

The First Vision!- Okay this week my companions and I were asked to give a little workshop on the First Vision in our Zone Training! WOW! It was so amazing to focus on the First Vision and really think about why it was so important that Joseph Smith saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ that Spring day in 1820. Before my mission I don’t think I really understood the importance of this incredible event… but now this amazing event has so much more importance and significance in my life. The first vision was the beginning of the restoration of the Gospel, the beginning of having the authority of god or preistood power in the earth, it was how we eventually would recieve the Book of Mormon, and it is how we gained knowledge of the divinity of God and the Love he has for each of us. As we were preparing our workshop, I began to reflect on the Question – What would my life be without the First Vision?

Everytime I say the words of Joseph Smith describing his experience in seeing God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ, I am reminded that this is Why I’m a missionary. This is How my family can be together forever…. this is why I will see my father again. This is Why the gospel of Jesus Christ brings Joy and happiness in my life!!! I know that God loves each of us and that he still answers prayers, and still gives us guidence each day! All we have to do is ask, and he will give us the answers that we need.

Love you all!

This week was crazy!! Here is a rundown of how my week went!

Bus Crash- So this week as we were on our way to one of our lessons, the craziest thing happened! We were riding the bus as always…. when our bus crashed! It was a pretty powerful collision because almost everyone in the bus was thrown to the floor…. including me and my companion! What was even more crazy was after the crash the car resposible began to speed away, so the bus began to chase after it! It was so insane! I felt like I was in a movie or something! Finally, after riding in this bus gone rogue for 5 LONG minutes, we were able to get off the bus and WALK the rest of the way to our appointment! My companion and I were so blessed that we only had a few bruises and scrapes and nothing serious!!!

We’re 3! – This week we recieved our new companion!!! Hermana Esser!!! She is from Arizona and is amazing!! Being together with her and Hermana Trejo is such a blessing and so much fun! I am learning so much from each of them and I’m loving every moment of it!

The Book of Mormon!- This week I was struck even more-so of the power of The Book Of Momon! In one of our lessons this week we were teaching a young family, Angeli and Walker, for the first time! As we began the lesson it became clear that Walker had many doubts and many questions about God, Jesus Christ and Religion in general. After listening to his doubts and questions, we turned to the Book of Mormon. It was funny because I told him that all the answers were in this incredible book…. he kind of looked at me with a skeptical look on his face…. but as we began to read different verses of scripture… his face completely changed…. he told us “wow…. this book does have answers”. It was such an amazing moment for me to see how the Spirit and the Book of Mormon truly work together to help us find the answers to the questions of our souls. I love the ability I have as a missionary to share this amazing book everyday! It is so amazing to see how the Lord speaks through his scriptures! This was one of my miracles this week, seeing how the Book of Mormon and Inspired questions can open the hearts of everyone!

I love this work and feel so blessed to be here in Ayacucho at this time! I know this gospel is true!

Cannot believe it is almost AUGUST! wow!!! The months are just flying by! Here is a quick update on my week!

Service in Peru- Every Thursday morning we have time to do service for different members or people in the community! Normally we end up cleaning or painting houses, but this week our service was a lot different. When we arrived they informed us that they would need help killing their chickens to prepare for a special dinner they were going to have…. and so I had my first experience of killing a chicken!! This pic was before the killing…… hahah

Cambios!- This week was cambios. For the first time ever I was really praying to stay here in Ayacucho! I just felt like there was more that I need to do here and I love it so much! So this Saturday when we got our the call telling us cambios I was overjoyed to find out that I would be staying here in Ayacucho for another cambio!!! wooohoo! What was even better is that my companion will be training this cambio and we will be in Trio!!! WOW I am so excited to meet our new companion!!!! I truly testify that our Heavenly Father listens to our prayers and that if if be in his will, he will always answer our prayers! I truly felt a confirmation of that this cambio…. Our Heavenly Father knows us inside and out and he knows what we need before we know. When we turn our life over to him and consult him in all things, that is when we become to see his hand guiding our lives!

Andres!- This week we had the blessing of finding part of an amazing family! We recieved a reference from a member to go visit her neighbor, a 9 year old named Andres. When we arrived we also met his mother and his grandmother. As we began to teach them all we were struck by how amazing this family is! We soon came to find out that Andres’s Aunt is a member and his grandmother Elizabeth, and his mother Vanessa have been listening to missionaries for years but have never taken the steps to be baptized! As we taught them about the restoration of the gospel the spirit was so strong. I could see that things were finally clicking for them! They were asking questions, answering their own doubts, and most importantly, they were feeling the spirit of confirmation that these things are true! I was also so amazed by Andres! He is only 9 but his ability to comprehend the scriptures and learn gospel principles is amazing. I feel so blessed that I was able to find Vanessa, Elizabeth and Andres and cannot wait to teach the Father of Andres so that one day they can become an eternal family! Finding them was truly a blessing this week! It’s amazing to see how the Lord is always reaching out to his Children… after years of not having the missionaries in their house…. we were lead to their home! I have truly come to understand that the Lord shows his love to his children through us… I know becuase I can feel it! I feel this love everytime I meet someone new…. Everytime an investigator understands a principle…Eveytime I get to testify of God’s love for them! It’s amazing!!! I just LOVE it!

Ayacucho is amazing! We are teching amazing people that truly have desires to follow Jesus Christ! The members here are wonderful, and my companions are the best!! I feel so blessed to be here in this time!!

Wow! This week has been crazy! Lots of changes!!! Here is the rundown of the week!

TRIO!- One of the hermanas in my zone had to go home for health so now we are in a trio and are working in two areas!!! It is a bit crazy but my companions are the best! My new companion is hermana Turley from Arizona! She is awesome and It has been the best working with her and Hermana Trejo this week!! It’s been so crazy working with members and doing divisions so that we can work in both Garcilazo and Mariscal!

Tender Mercies!- This week was a little rough in terms of my health. There ended up being 2 days that I couldn’t go out and work because of my bad health! It was so rough having to stay in while we had plans to visit investigators and visit members! But like always after the trial comes the blessing, and this week was no different! After resting for 2 days I went to go work in the area of Hermana Turley and met her Investigator Susan! As we were finishing up the lessons for Susan’s baptism this past Saturday we began talking about Temples! As I began to explain baptisms for the dead and the power to create eternal families… I turned to look at Susan. I could tell she was a bit confused… She then told us that she had never known that this was possible. She had never known that her mother could be baptized and one day enter into the kingdom of heaven! She quickly asked us if and when she could be baptized for her mother who had passed away, and if she could one day see her mother again! It gave me such happiness to be able to respond to her questions with a resounding YES! Now, susan has a goal to go to the temple in August and do the temple work for her own mother, and her other family members who have passed away! Temples are truly amazing! The spirit that I felt in this moment was amazing! It was such a reminder to me that the Lord has a plan for each of us! And how amazing is it, that as a missionary I get to share this happiness every day! After days of not being able to work,I was reminded me what it means to be a missionary and how blessed I am to be here in peru at this time! I love this work!

The blessings continued as this past Saturday Susan was baptized! Even though I wasn’t there during all the lessons…. I came to feel a great love for susan in this short week! I felt so blessed to be able to be with her during this important event in her life and help her take the steps towards the eternal blessings that await each of us!

I know that this work is important and I feel so blessed to be here serving the people of Ayacucho!!!
