Inerzon’s Baptism!

Hola Familia!! This week was wonderful!!! Here’s a rundown of this week!

Inerzon’s Baptism!!- This week we finally had the Baptism of Inerzon! Wow! It’s incredible to see the change that has taken place in the life of Inerzon! When we first started teaching him, he only really wanted to find out more about the church… he didn’t really have the intention to act. He later told us that he used to go around telling people that God didn’t exist, that this life was it, and that religion was insignificant… Wow how different are his beliefs now… Now Inerzon knows that there is a God, He knows that Christ Suffered for him, and he truly believes that one day he will be able to live with his family and our Heavenly father for eternity! He truly has the goal to enter into the temple and has completely changed the way he thinks about religion and God. It’s so amazing to see how the Spirit truly changes the hearts of those who decide to let Christ into their lives….
The Baptism was wonderful! It was small, because Inerzon doesn’t like “big crowds” but the spirit was strong, and when we asked him how he felt after his baptism… he said their weren’t words to describe the peace or “newness” that he felt! WOW! It was such a great moment to see the true change that happened in his life!!!

Felicita!! – About a month ago we started teaching a family, Felicita and Vidal. They are amazing and have such desires to follow Christ! As they are not married, we began teaching about the importance of families and the need for marriage in our world today! As we extended the invitation to be married and later be baptized, Felicita began to cry and hug us telling us how grateful she was for us and the chance she had to finally be married! What was even more amazing is her pareja vidal, agreed also and told us how happy he was to finally have a family ordained of God. WOW. I will never forget the look of happiness and gratitude in the eyes of Felicita, she told us again and again, if it wasn’t for us… or the gospel of Jesus Christ they would never had made that decision in their lives. WOW. As we left the house we heart her daughter ask her what had happened… and when she told her they began to scream for joy!!!! Literally, scream. Walking away from the house… hearing the screams of Joy…. it was one of those moments of pure happiness!

I love this work and I feel so blessed to be here at this time…. I love this gospel and I know it is true!

Love you all!!!

Week 54

Hola Familia!!!
This week was wonderful!! The days are flying by so fast it is crazy!!! Here is a rundown of how my week went!

Finding! – This week President set a goal for the whole mission… 10 new investigators by the end of the week! For my area this is a lot. It the weeks before we had been finding 5 or 7 at the most… but with my new companion we set a goal. We would not go home until we had found a new investigator! With many prayers, and lots of hard work we finished the week with 11 new investigators!!! We surpassed the goal!!! Wow! It was one of those moments where I realized how willing the Lord is to help you when 1. You ask… repeatedly and 2. you work as hard as you can… you do your part! There is a wonderful quote I love… ” Work as if everything depended on you, Pray as if everything depended on God” (That might not be exact…. but almost … ) I love that… when we really put all our heart and soul into it, the Lord will make up what we lack, and we will reach goals we never thought possible!

The Dedication!- This week was the dedication of the Trujillo Temple!!! Wow! It was so amazing! The night before they had a cultural event where all the youth from northern Peru danced and showcased the amazing culture that is Peru! This night was especially memorable for me because we went to watch the cultural night with one of our invesigators, Maria and 3 of her kids! Moises (9 months), Flor (14) and Pierro (9). As Elder Uchdorf started with the opening remarks Pierro, who is severely handicapped- began to make shout and clap his hands….. My companion then turned to me …. ” Look, an Angel is listening to an apostle! No Wonder he is so happy!” It was truly an amazing event! Sitting next to Pierro in his little wheelchair, and watching his happiness in just listening to the voice of an apostle! The dances were all amazing and it was so amazing to witness the happiness and joy that comes from Temples!!!

The next day was just as wonderful! We got to witness the dedication of the Trujillo dedication through satillite…. Listening to messages from President Uchdorf and Elder Bednar was amazing! They all discussed the importance of temples in the creation and the strengthening of families! The spirit was so strong and I was just overwhelmed with the joy that comes from Temples! What blessing it is to have another Temple- House of the Lord in Peru!!!

I love this work. I love this gospel! I love Peru, and all of the wonderful people I get to meet each day!!!

Love you all so much!

[This week was crazy!!! So much food, tears, planning, and traveling!!! Let me explain….

Hermana Saucedo Finishes!! – This week was Hermana Saucedo’s last week in the mission!! So obviously the week was filled with so much food!! Everyone wanted to have a last meal with Hermana Saucedo… so we ate about 3 lunches daily! It was great… but tiring! haha I also had to make the 10 hour bus ride to drop off Hermana Saucedo in the Office and then travel back the next night with my new companion!

New Companion!- My new companion is Hermana Trejo! She is from Honduras and has 14 months in the mission!! She is amazing! I was so excited with I got my cambio because I had had intercambios with her in Cañete and she is such a powerful and wonderful missionary!! I feel so blessed to be here with her this change!!! We are going to see miracles here in Ayacucho!!!

Fredy’s Baptism!- This week Fredy was finally baptized!! It is amazing to see how much Fredy has grown, and how much the gospel truly has changed his life! As we were finishing our last lesson with Hermano Fredy, he began to share with us how grateful he was for this gospel and for our work in helping him accept Christ in his life. The spirit was so strong, tears began to fall as he explained how much happiness he had found in this gospel, and how his life had completely changed because we came to his house and shared the Book of Mormon with him. It was such a sweet moment, it was so amazing to actually see and hear how my service as a missonary has actually made a difference. How through me the Holy Ghost was able to touch Fredy’s heart and help him make an important change in his life! His Baptism was wonderul! And even though we weren’t there to see him recieve the Holy Ghost (we were in Lima, traveling) we know it was an important experience for him!

For me it’s not the baptism that is the most impactful, but yet the change that you see take place in each person as they decide to truly accept Christ in their lives!!! Baptism is only one step in this grand journey, but it is a new begining.. a rebirth… that is inspiring to witness!!!I love this work! I love this area! And I feel so blessed to be a missionary at this time!!!!

Love you all so much!!!

Week 52, One year!

Hola Familia!!!!
This week was wonderful!!! here is a little rundown of what happened this last week!
Quinua!!! … This week for PDay we got to go to Quinua! It is this huge sculpture that Ayacucho is famous for… it was sooo beautiful! and we took some great photos!!!!

TEMPLE!!!…. This week we had leadership council in Lima, so my comp and I traveled the 10 hours to have our last concilio with president douglas!! It was amazing! The whole meeting focused on the Doctrine of Christ, and at the end President announced that we would all be going to the temple together!! WOW it was such a blessing to be able see President and Hermana Douglas in the temple and sit together with them in the Celestial Room! It was also such a blessing because the last time I was in the temple was the day after my father died. About 7 months ago. Obviously, the emotions came back to me and I began to reflect on how grateful I am for the Plan of Salvation, and the Love that our heavenly father has for each of us. As I sat there I felt a happiness, a peace, and a strong testimony of the Love that not only my father in heaven has for me, but also the love that my earthly father has for me as well!

Investigators!! – Wow!! The investigators that we have here in Ayacucho are amazing!!! We have truly found people that are prepared and interested into coming unto Christ and changing their lives!!One of our investigators, Freddy is doing just that. When we first started teaching him, he was so nervous, and shy… he always read, always prayed… but we hadn’t begun to see the “light” yet! But wow, this past week as he had his baptism interviews, we truly saw the change. We saw how when someone actively tries to follow Christ, repents and changes… they find a light- they begin to accept Jesus Christ in their lives!! I love being about to witness that change everyday here in Peru!! It is truly a blessing and helps me to realize and recognize that Light or happiness in myself!!!

I love this work and I love this gospel!!!!
Have a great week!!!

Wow!!! Okay this week went by so fast and SO much happened here is a rundown!!!

We Moved!!- This week my companion and I switched houses with the Elders in our Ward. It was pretty funny because well, our apartment was a lot smaller, our bunk bed broke- so we’ve been sleeping on the floor, and it’s pretty old…. so when the Elders walked in their faces where just horrified!! haha my companion and I were trying so hard not to laugh as we saw them trying to be nice about the whole ordeal! haha But I will say we did have a challenge moving into the Elder’s apartment… I don’t think they’d cleaned their house in a good 5 months!!!!
Jhon’s Baptism!!! – Wow!! This week miracles happened! After 8 years of investigating the church, Jhon was finally baptized!! I felt so blessed to be able to witness such an amazing moment! For me, one of the most amazing things to witness is the process of repentance. When someone really decides to follow Christ and truly repents- their whole countenance changes! That is exactly what happened with Jhon… He truly decided to follow Christ and finally took action…. he quit smoking, drinking, completely left his past ways of life and decided to be baptized!!! Even with a few challeneges… There was no water in the Church building so we only filled the font about a third of the way full!!! — Jhon was baptized on his knees!!! …. he was baptized and later told us… “I just feel so renewed, so clean, so Happy!” That is what the Gospel does… It purifies us. It takes away all the the bad and replaces it with the good. It replaces it with Joy! There is no greater happiness than the Joy that comes from Jesus Christ and his gospel! I know because I have seen it change my life and the lives of countless others!!!
I love this work and I feel so blessed to be able to be serving here in Peru at this time!!
Love you all!!
