This week was great! I’m so much better and I think that the parasite is finally gone! …. hopefully!! haha but seriously this week was wonderful, I love Ayacucho, my companion, and the people here! It is amazing! Here is a run-down of my week!!
The Zoo!!! – This past monday we got to go to the Zoo!! They had tons of different animals and It was fun to walk around and see all the animals!! It was also fun to be with all the Hermanas in my Zone! I love them all so much!
Danzas!- This past Saturday our stake had a huge dance presentation!! Here Dancing is a huge part of their culture and so it was such a big event! Every ward prepares a classic dance from some part of south america and they rent out costumes and everything!!! It was so fun to see all the different costumes and dances!!! It kind of made me think of Stake Play!
Progressing!!- My companion and I have been so fortunate here in Ayacucho! We have some of the most prepared and wonderful Investigators ever!!! One of our investigators, Inerson is one of the best examples of how the Spirit can truly change hearts and desires! When we began meeting with Inerson he told us that he hadn’t really ever believed in God and that he was more than anything just interested in the beliefs in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. But as we’ve taught him, we’ve seen the spirit working within him and the desires of his heart change! He even told us… “When I started listening to you guys it was just to listen… out of curiosity…. but now… I don’t know… I want more…. I actually want to follow Christ!” Wow!!! This was such a testimony to me of how the Spirit truly guides us and prompts us to act for our salvation! Everytime we feel the desire to pray, read our scriptures, go to church, or do something nice for someone else…this is the Holy Ghost! Helping us to realize that we are in the right path!…That this is the true doctrine of Christ!!!
I love this work and I love this gospel!! I feel so blessed to be here peru, in this time!!!
Love you all!!
This week was a little crazy!! Here is an upadate!!
Parasites!! – So this week I got pretty sick and Hermana Douglas wanted me to get tested for parasits… after going to the clinica and doing a few tests we found out that I had some unwanted friends hanging out in my digestive system! I had to go on a diet of just liquids for 2 days… and I’m still on medication! I’m doing really well though and can now eat practically anything! Before I knew what I had I asked a few of the Elders to give me a blessing of health to help me feel better! Now blessings are amazing. Whenever I get one I am always overwhelmed with the knowledge that the Power of Priesthood is the same in the heavens and on Earth. I think about my Dad who is up in heaven and how this power connects me to him, and how really he is still there, still protecting me and helping me in my times of need. Even though the blessing didn’t take away my parasites, it did lift my spirits and gave me the strength so I could work this past week!
Families are Forever! – This week we had an amazing lesson with an investigator named Freddy. As we were sharing about the Plan of Salvation, one of the members who was accompanying us shared her testimony about the knowledge that we will see our loved ones again, as she shared her testimony the spirit filled the room and freddy began to cry. He slowly began to wipe away the tears and explained the happiness he had felt when he read in the Book of Mormon that he would see his father once more. Freddy’s father passed away recently, and as I shared my testimony of the plan of salvation and how the Book of Mormon truly helped me to find peace, strength and hope in my own experiences with my father’s passing, I was once again filled with the spirit and reminded of how much our heavenly father loves us. I was reminded of how amazing my calling is as a missionary, and how I have been put in peoples lives for a reason. Everyday I see the hand of the Lord in my Life and I get to help people realize that there is hope! That this life is not the end and that one day we will be reunited with our loved ones once more!!
I love this work! I love this gospel! And I know that Families truly can be together forever!!!!
Love you all!!
Wow! This week just flew by!!! I love Ayacucho and I love my companion!!! Here is a rundown of the week!
Ayacucho!- Wow! Ayacucho is SO Beautiful!! It is up in the mountains and the weather is perfect! It is beautiful and sunny during the day and a little more chilly in the night! The members in this ward are so sweet and they are really willing to help out and serve the missionaries!!! Here in Ayacucho they don’t just speak Spanish, they also speak Quechua …. which is an ancient dialect which basically sounds like chinese or something! I have learned a few phrases but one of the older members of the ward and came up to me and started talking to me in Quechua and I had no idea what do say!!!! hahah
Mother’s day!! – Mother’s day in Peru is a huge deal!! The days leading up to sunday all the schools have dance performances and Sunday everyone has big family dinners!! It was also really cute in Church the men in the ward baked cakes for all the members and mothers! It was so cute!!! We also went to the Ward Mission Leaders house to call our families and then after we got to eat cake and wish Sonia… who is like our mom in the mission a happy mother’s day!!
New Investigators- This week my companion and I have been finding new people, putting new baptism dates, and seeing small miracles happen!!! Right now all of our investigators are young single adults and it is so fun to teach and also imagine how different their future families are going to be through the blessings of the gospel! They are all so prepared to be baptized and it really just feels like a blessing to be here at this time…. In my area of Garcilazo, they haven’t had a baptism since October of Last year!! So the fact that we are finding new people and seeing them progress is amazing!!! We are so confident that this cambio we are going to see so many miracles and see the future generation of Garcilazo grow!!!
Companions… AGAIN!- I also love being with my old companion again! It’s amazing to see how much we have both grown in the last 3 months, and see how well we work together! We have so much fun together, but we are also seeing great changes happen in Garcilazo and it has only been a week!!! I cannot wait to see what this cambio will bring!
I love Ayacucho, My companion, and this work! I know with all my heart that this gospel is true!!!
love you all!

This Past week was crazy!!! So much happened it’s insane!!! Here’s a little rundown….
Alejandra’s Baptism!! – After months of teaching Alejandra she was finally Baptized!!!! It was so amazing to be there with her for that special moment! It’s been so amazing to witness the changes that have been taking place in her life since the time that we began teaching her…. this past week before her baptism we had an impression to have a little “testimony” lesson where we all bore short testimonies….. as Hermana Alejandra bore her testimony the spirit was so strong and you could just feel that power that comes through bearing testimony! That’s one thing that I absolutely love about the mission is that you can bear your testimony at any time and in any place…. it is our calling!!!! Testimonies are so powerful and when you share your beliefs the spirit just comes!!!!
Cambios! – Saturday afternoon after Alejandra’s baptism, I got a call telling me I had cambios and I would have to travel that night to go stay with the hermanas in Mala…. as you can imagine it was a bit of a shock and I immediately began packing my bags!!! Afterwards I ran around saying goodbye to a few members and Alejandra- as I wouldn’t be there for her confirmation! The craziest part was they still hadn’t told me where I’d be going!
Traveling to mala was probably the craziest traveling experience I’ve ever had… first off we missed our stop so they tried to drop us off on the side of the road and the bus began to drive away with all my bags…. after chasing the bus down, waiting for the next stop, and taking a taxi with my suitcases hanging out of the back…. I finally got to mala and later recieved my cambio…. I’m in AYACUCHO!!!!
Visiting old Friends…. – Because I traveled 2 days before all of the other missionaries, I had some extra time to kill waiting in the office…. and beacuse I’m so lucky, the office is now in my first area- Bolognesi!!!!! I got to go to church in my old ward and even visit some of my old converts and members who I love sooo much!!! It was such a treat and was such a trip down memory lane! I even got to talk to Namiko, one of my rescates!!! She is turning in her papers for the mission and will be getting her call soon!!! I am so excited to find out where she will go, and to see all the lives that she will touch as a missionary!!!
Ayacucho!!!— Ayacucho is about 10 hours away from lima so we had to travel all night to get there!!! It is so beautiful here!!! It’s up in the mountains and the weather is wonderful… even more crazy is my new companion…. it’s actually my old companion… Hermana Saucedo!!!! We’re so happy to be together again and we are so excited to work together here in ayacucho!!
I love this work and I feel so blessed to be here at this time!!! I know this Church is true and I feel the Lord’s guidence and love each day!
Love you all!!!
