Hola Family!!This past week was wonderful!!PDAY! The week started off wonderfully with Tacos and Fajitas and so much Good Food!! We are so fortunate in Cañete to have a pair of Married Missionaries on our Zone… Los Tharp! They are from St. George and they always invite us over for P’days and Dinners and it is seriously the BEST! My Companion was especially excited because there isn’t too much Mexican food here in Peru!Investigators and Questions- This past week we have been working a lot with Nestor! He is awesome! He has one of those personalities where if he doesn’t understand something or has a question he asks right away…. In one of our lessons this past week he had a ton of questions about Faith. What it means to Have faith? How can we show our faith? How have you felt your Faith grow in your life?…. He told us.. “I think that is what I don’t have, I don’t have faith”This statement struck me and really helped me realize how important our personal testimonies truly are! No matter how much we explain what faith was or what he could do to develop faith – he would never develop faith if he didn’t Act. If he didn’t Change!….After sharing these insights with Nestor and leaving Homework in his Book of Mormon and the Promise to Pray and truly seek help in developing his own faith, Things Changed!…. About 3 days later we had another lesson with Nestor, When we asked him how he was doing in his prayers and scripture study, he paused for a minute and then said… “I think I’m growing in my faith… I think I can feel a differerce…. I can feel a peace” …. Wow in this moment I was so overjoyed!!! It’s amazing how the simple steps that the Lord gives us to develop faith and be happy always work!! It’s also amazing to me to witness this change in people, how they truly grow and develop faith and truly become happier and more confident in all the trials and difficult times in our lives!!I love this Gospel and I testify that it is true!! I love this work and feel so blessed to be a missionary in this time and in this place!!Love you All!Hermana Hansenp.s. the address of our mission office is changinging so don’t send everything and if you could… change the address that is in my blog and facebook!!it is nowAv. Hola Family!! Here is the rundown for this past week!Intercambios! This past week I got to go work for 2 days in San Viciente, the area that is about 20 minutes from me!! It was so much fun!! There area is made up of just hills of sand, dirt, and houses, so it was pretty fun hiking around to find people to teach! There were so many wonderful lessons and wonderful instances where we found new people to teach and made new contacts for the Hermanas in San Viciente!!!Sick Days- This past week my miracle run of never getting sick ran out! It happened… I got sick. Because of my sickness I had strict orders to stay in for at least 2 days so, as I didn’t want to give up all of our appointments I ended up staying at a members house for one of the afternoons. The member that I ended up staying with, Lucile was so cute… she is probably around 75 years old and can’t see too well, so for the 5 hours that I spent sleeping and resting at her house she just sat in front of me…. watching me and asking me periodically if I needed anything! haha it was so cute and I actually felt like my little abuela was there watching over me!!The Blessings of Priesthood Power- By Sunday I was feeling a lot better but I was still not 100% back to normal and I had also had way too much time to think about myself. Inevitably during my time sleeping and resting I had started to think a lot about my dad and how much I missed him and how different things would be when I got home…. needless to say I was a little down in my Spirits. After we had finished our Sunday meetings it dawned on me that I should ask the Elders in our ward if they could please give me a blessing of Health. As he laid his hands on my head and began to give my blessing I was immediatly overcome with thoughts of my father. I could feel his hands on my head and hear his voice saying the words of comfort and healing…. It was one of the most comforting blessings I have ever received…. I truly felt the presence of my father and every word was exactly what I needed to hear. When He finished the blessing Elder Quispe obviously touched by the spirit asked me…. what was your sickness again? It was so apparent that it had not been him talking, but yet my father and my Father in Heaven!! The spirit was so strong and such a confirmation that Our father in Heaven knows each and every one of us! He knows what we need, What we lack, and how we can grow and progress!!!I love this work so much and I feel so blessed to be here in Cañete sharing the importance of this gospel with everyone that I meet!!! I love you all so much and feel so blessed to have each and every one of you in my life!!Have an amazing week!!Love,Hermana Hansen
Wow!! I love my new area!! It is so crazy how different 3 hours south of Lima really is! I absolutely love my area and my companion!! Hermana Saucedo has a little more than a year in the mission and is absolutely amazing! It is so fun and such a blessing to be working with her every day!!Happy New Years!!! Hopefully your New Years was wonderful!!! Ours was pretty Low Key but still wonderful as one of the members of our Branch delivered Grapes, paneton ( fruitcake) and inca cola so that we could have a real New Years celebration!!! It is crazy how there are so many traditions for each holiday here- for example everyone wears yellow for new years as a symbol of weath and prosperity! Also everyone Eats grapes… I still don’t understand why exactly but it’s a tradition!! All in all it was great! We were able to see lots of fireworks from our window and hear the shouts of everyone ringing in the new year!Prepared People! This past week as we were contacting a family this young guy approached us and asked us if we were Mormons. Obviously we said yes and began to talk about the church and told him that we would call him later to schedule an appointment with him… about 3 hours later, he called us!!! That never happens in the mission world!!! He, Nestor, ended up coming to our church building, we gave him a tour and later taught him the first lesson. He said he had been searching so long to find the truth and to find some sort of support or guidance in his life…. when he had seen us walking earlier that morning he had recognized that we were missionaries, and followed us for 3 blocks to ask us if we were in fact members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints… Our lesson with him went amazing, it was pretty funny though because when I asked him to be baptized he didn’t hear exactly what I said and thought I asked him to be baptized that day! hahah the funny thing was that he accepted the date!!! We quickly explained that he would have some preperation for a later date in february! ahahIt’s such an amazing thing when you find the people that the Lord has prepared to receive the restored gospel!!! More than ever I feel the hand of the Lord guiding us to find those that are truly humble in heart and ready to accept a change in their lives, the change that comes when one accepts Christ!! I love this work so much and I feel so grateful that I get to Share the message of Christ every single day!!Love you all so much!!xoxoxoHermana Hansen
