Hola! This week really flew by!! It´s getting a bit warmer here but now the weather is a bit mixed up! One day is misty and cold and the next is sunny and beautiful!!! But all around it´s wonderful! I can´t believe I´ve already been in Bolognesi for 2.5 months!! Here are some of the Highlights!Dogs here: This past week as we were rushing from appointment to appointment this lady stopped us on the street to talk to us about how she was a member and how she knew of an apartment for us. As we were listening to this random woman giving us all this random information, all the sudden a heard a woman yell at me “That dog is peeing on your leg” as soon as I heard this I felt exactly what she was talking about…. But it was too late…. a dog had totally peed all over my leg!!!! It was awful, but also extremely hilarious… My comp and I couldn´t stop laughing….Anticucho: I love how the foods here have really great names that hide what you are actually eating…. for example… anticucho. sounds fun right? haha well actually.. it is cow heart! haha but other than the fact that it´s a little chewy it is actually pretty good!La Expiacion : The Atonement: WOW! this week my companion and I have been really focusing on teaching the Docterine of Christ and the Atonement. One amazing moment was when we were teaching Walter- the father of Rodrigo and Daniel! Walter has recieved the lessons from other missionaries but because of his family background- his whole family is really catholic- he had decided against baptism and this was our first time teaching him! And WOW.It was such a blessing from the Lord that Daniel and Rodrigo had forgotten about our appointment and Walter was home and willing to listen! The spirit was so so so strong! It´s incredible when you think of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ- you can´t help but feel immense gratitude and love for our savior!!Rescatas: In our mission, we´ve been putting a lot of emphasis in “rescuing” inactive members that live in our area! One of the less active members we have been working with for the past 8 weeks is a 70 year old man named Fidencio. The first time we visited him was awful- he made fun of my spanish and was all around rude about our message. But as we kept visiting him he has completely changed… enserio it´s incredible how the gospel changes people!!! Now fidencio is my Peruvian Grandpa!!! He is so excited about everytime we come to visit him and went out and bought a new Bible and Book of Mormon to read “Every night.” It´s so wonderful to see how a stubborn 70 year old man who has been refusing the missionaries for years… finally accepted us to remind him of the importance of the gospel of Jesus Christ in his life!Hope you all have a fabulous week!!! Keep smiling always!Love you tons!!!Hermana Hansen
One more funny story,
haha this week one of my investigators asked if I was pregnant and started laughing and called me a gordita!!! It was pretty funny because the next day i was talking about how I had a headache and one of the members that was with us said that it was probably a lack of calories because I´m just really skinny…. hahaha is there not a happy medium?!?!? hahah I thought that was pretty funny!
Ahhh this week was my first real baptism!!! Rodrigo and Daniel were finally baptized after investigating the church for 6 months with their family!!! The baptism was wonderful! Daniel and Rodrigo were wearing their finest and even though their mom and dad couldn`t make it because they were traveling for work, they felt the love and support of our ward family!! It was also really exciting because our president gave permission to two of the other hermanas who had taught them during their 6 months as investigators- they were so excited to see them and sincerely thanked every one of us for our lessons!!! I will never forget watching each of them following the example of Christ and being baptized by immersion, through the preistood- the power for a man to act in the name of God! I will also never forget that after Rodrigo was baptized he turned and looked straight at me and my companion and gave us the biggest grin and waved his hands in excitement!!!! ahhhhh I was so happy during the whole baptism I couldn`t stop smiling… seriously everyone kept talking about how I was exuding happiness!!! Sunday was just as amazing when Daniel and Rodrigo recieved the gift of the Holy Ghost!! The spirit was so strong and in each of their confirmations the bishop talked specifically about serving missions!!! ahhh I honestly cannot wait for Daniel and Rodrigo to serve missions and share their testimonies and help bring others the light that they have found during their 6 months of lessons!!!
Service! This week we had an opportunity to help move a family in our ward!! Almost all the elders in our zone came to help and some hermanas came too!! While the elders moved the furniture, the hnas packed up the stuff in the kitchen… and wow let me tell you kitchens are nasty.
Investigators: This week my comp and I had a super sweet experience with one of our investigators – Yanina! Yanina has been coming to church for the past 3 weeks, but every time she comes right after the sacrament—- so it doesn`t cound as an attendance for baptism… so this week we decided to really focus our lesson on the sacrament. As we were teaching our lesson… about to start our conversation about the sacrament…. Yanina began to cry and pointed to a photo in the little panphlet we had given her last week! The photo was of a little girl taking the sacrament…. Yanina was overwhelmed with the memories of when she had taken the sacrament as a child and how important it was to her!!! WOW! sometimes the Lord knows what our investigators need before we do!! It was so crazy and wonderful and spiritual to know that My companion and I are never alone in lessons, we always have the Spirit and the hand of the lord guiding us in what we teach and how we teach it!!
Love you all so so much and hope all is well!!!
Wow! This week really flew by!!! Here are some of the highlights:Celebrities with Badges: It´s so funny how everyone in our neighborhood knows who the missionaries are and love to wave and say hello! haha My companion and will just be walking and some person we´ve never seen before will start waving and shouting: misioneras! misioneras! my companion and I always wave and pretend like we know who they are! hahaNoche De Hogar: One thing I´ve learned this week is the importance of members!! This week we had a Family home Evening with one of our menos activos and invited some members of the ward. What was meant to be one hermana to accompany us for our lesson turned into 6 members, an apple pie, and inka cola. We talked about the importance of attending Church and how your ward is your family! I know this is true!! The love and support I felt in that room was amazing and it made me so grateful that these members could see the need for this single mother to feel supported and loved.Feliz Cumpleaños! This past Sunday was the Birthday of one of our investigators: Rodrigo! He turned 19!! Wooo!!! For his birthday we gave him a Preach My Gospel and a Study Journal to record his thoughts about the Church!!! He was so excited and keeps talking about how he wants to serve a mission someday! He and his brother are so excited for their baptisms and every lesson we teach my companion and I can feel their testimonies growing!!!Investigators: This week my companion and I got to hear so many stories of faith, struggles, and desires to follow the Lord. Each experience and each person left a lasting impression on me and the importance of this gospel. Because in every struggle and every challenge, we have the knowledge of our loving father in heaven and the ability to find support in the sacrifice of our Savior.I love this work and love these people!!! Every day I´m filled with gratitude in the ability I have to teach and be taught!Sending my love,Hna. Hansen
